Expose The View

Scope: 3 phases, dining and deck addition, some existing spaces – kitchen, dining, living room, bath/laundry, front and rear patio.

Problem:  Dark, cramped kitchen that blocked the great river view.  A big investment, this long time DIY family needed a different set of eyes to see the solutions and a design/build master plan.

Solution: First, the kitchen was opened up allowing for future plans/goals. Next, leaving the kitchen, the dining and deck addition picked up more space and view. A bath/laundry/mudroom/pet area accomplished a lot in one existing space.  The exterior got a complete make-over, front and back.

Style/Personality: Like the clients, the projects were fun loving and eclectic. The kitchen’s simple, easy care materials have a few stepped surprises. The fireplace is more like an asymmetrical sculpture piece, reminiscent of the portals and steel ships out their window .  The tile floor and big patio doors continue indoor living to the outdoors.

Accolades: The kitchen won local and regional design awards, the fireplace a national award, both have been published.  Fun loving open minded collaboration pays off for a house. It also makes for long time friendships.
