About This Master Bathroom Remodeling Project

 Scope:

  • Existing footprint: Master bathroom, bedroom, closet, guest bathroom, hallway closet

Problem:

  • Master Bathroom, closet, bedroom: A tub never used, lack of storage, closet orientation and lighting (completely internal room in a condo)

Solution:

  • Space: Turned tub area into storage, reoriented closet entry, eliminate linen cabinet = more vanity cabinets and counter.

  • Cabinets: Fresh, white painted, large drawers, 12” dp uppers, tip-up doors

  • Counters & Flooring: Large format tiles, 24” X 24” with metal Shluter trim (easy care, tough, non-slip, low cost, unique look)

  • Sink: Trough-style, use for two in one sink (leaving more for counter and storage)

  • Color/Paint secrets: Beware of scale/proportion of walls when thinking color. Because there were now 5 painted doors with etched glass in the plan change, any wall color would’ve been chopped up greatly. Instead, the client’s desired spa-like feel was created with a robin’s egg blue…applied to the ceiling.

  • Lighting tricks: With a light glow from the 5 backlit etched glass doors, the white glass ceiling light and large LED lit mirror, it felt light and bright unlike that internal room was ever thought possible.
The client loves that “The ceiling feels like a 20’ skylight open to eternal blue skies…even in Portland!”

Personality/Style:

Contemporary/transitional, organized, no nonsense yet relaxed, bright and light-hearted.

TESTIMONIAL:

“Rhonda did an amazing job with my bathroom/closet remodel. I had an idea of what I wanted and she designed it far better with so many ideas to save costs. My husband and I both realized how much she saved us (far more than her fees, that’s for sure!). In addition, she’s amazing when it comes to organizing and storage space. She knew the best contractors for the job, stayed with the project through completion and needless to say, the job was done on time and within budget. Her design was so unique and impressive that it ended up in a photo spread in “The Oregonian” on remodels. I highly recommend Rhonda!!
