Formal Dining Repurposed
Scope: 1 phase, entire main floor, same footprint – Kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, laundry, bath, entry, whole house window replacement.
Problem: Wanting a larger kitchen space and big island, an addition was discussed but really didn’t need the additional house footage or expense. The other areas simply needed to be up-dated and up-graded.
Solution: By taking over the unused formal dining room, removing a non-bearing wall, it met both of their goals with no addition. The dining space, cozy for day to day, can be expanded for guests.
Style/Personality: Her vision was the kitchen on Barefoot Contessa, his was a contemporary open loft in the Pearl District. The plan, styles and materials merged both worlds nicely.
Accolades: This project won a local, state and regional awards in category of whole house – proving unused space should be put to work and the contessa and downtown hipster can live happily ever after with the help of this designer.
