Scope:
Existing footprint – kitchen, nook, family room bar
Problem:
Island: Angled and dated, it worked against the traffic and overall flow of the kitchen.
Sink: Main sink was in the corner, cramped for even one person.
Other spaces: Nook, patio and exterior views didn’t flow or relate well to the kitchen.
Aesthetics: No longer “represented” their acquired wilder side of a bolder aesthetic
Solution:
Island: The new island size and placement completely changed the relationship of people and spaces - from kitchen to nook, patio, natural light and beautiful view of the fountain/landscaping.
Sink: Note the large 2- person sink/wet-prep station.
Pantry: The walk-in pantry was used to recess the built-in refrigerator and the family room bar was turned into a shallow reach-in pantry.
Zones: Properly created for cooking, food storage and prep/clean-up, ample for many cooks.
Personality/Style:
Lifestyle: Frequent entertainers, family-friendly to gourmet meals, cooking classes, signature cocktails
Priorities: They value quality (note the appliances and other materials).
Aesthetics/Style: Organic / Contemporary - bold color, wood and subtle curves. Achieved with Sapele (eco-friendly mahogany look), unique grain change on the wall cabinets and soft curves on the island top and hardware.
Color: Ready for more than token red accents, bold color blocks were created on the backsplashes using back-painted glass, a leggy jewel box at the end of the island and an L-shaped lit niche framing the refrigerator.
Personality: Adventuresome, confident and now ready to trust concepts that hadn’t been seen before and loved the fact that this designer could read that about them.
TESTIMONIAL:
“Rhonda’s a talented experienced professional. She’s well know and respected in the design community with many helpful contacts and resources. Her strong suit is her boundless creativity and inspired designs. The ideas and concepts she brought to our project were far ahead of others, a real benefit of working with someone who’s a cutting edge innovator, trend setter, not just a follower. She won’t disappoint.
