Open and Rustic
Scope: 1 phase, whole main floor, same existing footprint – kitchen, dining, living room, master bath, bedroom, closet and laundry.
Problem: The clients moved from out of state to a beautiful country setting here with a great view. The house, however, needed a complete revamp. A priority was the kitchen, now cramped and blocking the great view. Wanting a very large island, they sought 3 bids for an addition to accommodate it. The master plan and budget still needed to cover many other areas.
Solution: With priorities, budget and a master plan, I showed them at least 6 plans that could provide a large kitchen, island, pantry, hutch, entry and great view within the existing space, moving some interior walls. The same was true for the master bedroom, bath and closet.
Style/Personality: The rustic country setting was continued with the hewn beams (blending with existing), knotty alder cabinetry and oil rubbed bronze appliances. Easy care materials were needed for their country living and as long time foster care providers for dogs.
